Kingston Lacy

Is a wonderful country house and estate near Wimborne Minster,Dorset which is not far from us.

It has some lovely gardens and some interesting
Egyptian antiques in the world. Most notable is the large Obelisk which stands prominently in the grounds of the house.

The
Japanese Garden has recently been replanted, when it matures in a few years it will be even better.

The house and gardens are
now owned by the National Trust, but from the 17th to the late 20th centuries it was the family seat of theBankes family, who had previously lived nearby at Corfe Castle until its destruction in the English Civil War after they sided with Charles 1 and the Royalists.

We had a very enjoyable day out, unfortunately the house was not open to the public on the day we visited but we will be returning now we have joined the National Trust and we get free entry.
