Exploring Brownsea Island

This is such a beautiful island and so close to us here in Poole. This is a National Trust location so there is a charge.

We set off early yesterday as we had to get the ferry from Poole Quay, the ferry trip across was about 20 minutes, the views were great and the water was very calm.

We wandered around the island and saw much wildlife and fauna, but for us we did not see the Red Squirrel, which is one of the things that the island is famous for.

As you can see from the pics the weather was just great and we got pretty close to the Peacocks, which wander around freely.

After a quick bite to eat at the only cafe, we set off back on the ferry, which was about 40 minutes this time it took us around Brownsea Island and some of the other smaller islands that are within the Poole bay area.

Definitely a place to return to, - next time with a pic-nic hamper, and we will be joining the National Trust as this is the second NT visit this year - see Corfe Castle post earlier.
